6100 Series Spring Starter
For diesel engines from 18 L to 32 L
The 6100 Series is a spring starter for diesel engines from 18 L to 32 L. Starting energy is stored by hand-winding an internal stack of disc springs, so no battery, compressed air or hydraulic power is needed.
Typical uses: marine emergency generator sets, data center standby generator sets, fire pump sets, offshore oil & gas platforms and emergency generators for hospitals and large public venues.
Key Advantages
No External Power Needed
Apart from manual winding, no other energy source is needed, so starting does not depend on batteries, compressed air or mains power. Not affected by battery failure, self-discharge or electrical shorts.
No Electrical Sparks
Purely mechanical design: no electrical sparks are produced during starting. Suited to environments where sparks must be avoided, such as offshore oil drilling, coal mine rail cars and some chemical processing sites. Please confirm your site requirements.
Standard SAE Flange
Compact SAE-standard flange interface allows direct bolt-on replacement of an electric starter, where the mounting fits, without modifying the flywheel housing.
Pre-Engaged Pinion
The pinion fully meshes with the flywheel ring gear before cranking torque is applied, reducing gear-tooth impact and wear.
Low Maintenance
Requires no battery replacements or oil refills, reducing maintenance work on site.
Built for Demanding Environments
Solutions can be adapted to high- or low-temperature requirements.
Installation Options
Two ways to fit the 6100 Series.
Replace the electric starter
Where the mounting fits, bolts directly onto the electric starter’s SAE mounting position, with no change to the flywheel housing.
Dual-starter installation
Installed together with an electric starter, this needs a flywheel housing with two starter mounting positions. For engines with only one, a custom dual-lug flywheel housing can be supplied.

Suitable for large-displacement diesel engines from the manufacturers below. Please send us your engine model to confirm fit.
